The Reykjavík Manual is a new practical guide that draws together the insights, best practices and solutions on how to use the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in legislation, offered by women leaders worldwide. It is a living document that continues to evolve as an innovative toolkit for all leaders to build forward to a more sustainable and equitable world. The Reykjavík Manual is a product of the Reykjavík Global Forum, an annually event co-hosted with the Government and Parliament of Iceland. The Forum provides an opportunity for women leaders from around the globe to connect, and exchange best practices and solutions on how to sustainably advance our global society.
The lay-out of the Manual revolves around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, established by the UN and its member states. The content of every chapter is the result of a (virtual) round table, hosted by partners of the Forum and experts in the field of the relevant SDG. The design is inspired by the pathway the SDGs form towards a sustainable and just transition. Every chapter has a different style pathway, which represents the Sustainable Development Goal the chapter contains.
In addition to the design of the Manual itself, social media plays a big role in the communication around the Manual. We communicate on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn channels about the occurrence of round table discussions and the release of new chapters to engage our network. On Twitter, this generated a lot of traffic through retweets from prominent leaders.
