Within our public space, commercial interest is often put above the interest of the public. With this subvertise campaign for a local climate movement, the public space is being reclaimed and used to make people aware of the seriousness of the climate crisis which is greatly influenced by companies that benefit from the commercial interest in this public space.
The design of this campaign is a culture jamming of the corporate identity and logo of the city of Antwerp. The A, the logo of Antwerp, is being transformed into an illustrative representation of pollution in and around the city.
The campaign had a big influence on the engagement and the visibility of the climate movement; their facebook account gained hundreds of followers overnight. For a local movement, Facebook is an important platform for communicating with the community. They received dozens of positive reactions and endorsements as well due to the nature of the action.
